UITTalk Episode 18: Tran Vinh Khanh & The Journey to UIT - The Dream University

Having achieved the gold medal in the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2015 and taking on the role of training excellent students nationwide, lecturer Pham Van Hanh, currently working at the Vietnam Informatics Association, stated: "Khanh is a comprehensive student, not only excelling in computer science competitions but also securing the second prize in the 'Journey to Mount Olympia 2022' competition. This shows that Khanh is not only passionate about computer science but also diligently explores knowledge in other fields, always striving to improve his general understanding."

To become the representative of Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO), Khanh had to undergo extensive and exhausting training. Firstly, he needed to be in the top 32 in the national informatics competition. Next, he went through 2 days of intense testing for 10 hours each day, following the international standards of the Olympic team selection competition, aiming to secure one of the 15 spots. Lastly, Khanh needed to be among the top 6 representatives of Vietnam at APIO to officially bring home the prestigious medal.

"With the international team selection competition, Khanh had only one month to prepare, so the amount of knowledge to be learned was extensive, and he had to practice solving many problems to get used to the new testing format. Khanh spent several weeks in Hanoi studying, doing practice exams lasting 5 - 10 consecutive hours. Therefore, his achievements are well-deserved," said lecturer Hanh.
