Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan, Vice President of VNUHCM-University of Information Technology (UIT), presented her perspective at the UIT 2023 Young Scientists and Researchers Conference held on the morning of October 3rd.
Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan asserted that the university's scientific research endeavors have witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, arguably situating it among the top institutions affiliated with VNUHCM, one of the highest rates of scholarly publications.
"Faculty members, research scholars, doctoral candidates, and undergraduates of the university have contributed significantly to numerous publications in prestigious journals and esteemed scientific conferences. While we take pride in our accomplishments, it is imperative to solicit constructive feedback from our mentors, thereby ensuring the continuous enhancement of our scholarly pursuits," Dr. Nguyen Luu Thuy Ngan stated.
At the conference, Prof. Dr. Do Phuc, former Vice President of VNUHCM-University of Information Technology, delivered a presentation on the topic "Doing research and writing the Scientific Papers with the support of AI."
Prof. Do Phuc suggested various methodologies for engaging with ChatGPT, including strategies for selecting appopriate research topics and journals for publishing scientific papers, identifying the essential components of a high-quality scientific paper, formulating suitable paper titles, referencing materials, conducting meticulous spelling checks,...
Prof. Do Phuc also addressed certain limitations and pitfalls associated with the utilization of ChatGPT, prominently highlighting concerns related to academic plagiarism. "Researchers are advised to utilize ChatGPT for guidance, subsequently engaging in critical reasoning and evaluating the information proffered by ChatGPT, thereby refraining from undue reliance" remarked by Prof. Do Phuc.
The conference also featured a dedicated exhibition area, showcasing 29 scientific papers authored by faculty members, research scholars, doctoral candidates, and undergraduate students of UIT. This is an annual event serves as a catalyst for augmenting the scholarly research endeavors of the institution.
